If you have thoughts, beliefs, behaviour patterns or habits that are getting in the way of relationships, progress in your work or studies or your good health, if you want to reach your best performance and achievements, you are in the right place to find out how to change your life.

Does it feel like you are forever sabotaging yourself? You’ve made the same New Year resolution every year, only to feel a failure by the end of January? Always avoid certain things on your to-do list? Uncomfortable making sales calls? Uncomfortable with public speaking? Uncomfortable at networking events? Fear of exams? Fear of failure? Fear of success? Noticing any unhelpful behaviour or thought patterns you seem habitually stuck in, that hold you back? Just can’t quit the smoking, alcohol or sweet things? Want more self-direction, confidence, satisfaction and achievement?

You can transform any of the above through the application of EFT Tapping, guided by an experienced EFT Practitioner or EFT Trainer.

Read more below about the likely root causes of this type of usually subconscious limitation, and how EFT can go back to the original root and support you in becoming clear and conscious about these patterns and reversing them.

Why are our subconscious limitations so powerful and difficult to reverse?

Followers of Dr Rangan Chatterjee’s podcast, Feel Better, Live More, might already be aware of the roots of subconscious programming an interview with Dr Bruce Lipton. Here are some key points from Dr Lipton and Dr Chatterjee’s discussion:

  • Independent, population-level research has shown that programing from early childhood affects your subconscious behaviour patterns and your whole experience of life, even your risk of disease1.
  • As a child, your brain – the blank hard drive – became populated with programs that you unconsciously downloaded from your experience of the adults or older children around you. Those programs generally continue to run subconsciously – we don’t really notice or call them out, because they are all we’ve ever known. However, they may be running based on beliefs or “writing on our walls” that is neither true, nor grounded in any real evidence. Nevertheless, the hard drive stores the program, takes on the conclusions drawn at a young age as a truth, and makes them available continuously to the subconscious. These might be identity beliefs such as:
    • I am not good enough
    • Others are better than me
    • I don’t deserve xyz
    • It’s my fault
    • I’m not lovable”.
  • Dr Chatterjee: “It is impossible to achieve long-term health and happiness if you hate yourself.”
  • 95% of our thoughts are automatic, controlled by the subconscious in patterns that were, in the main, established during our first six years of life. Dr Lipton explains the physiology of how these thought patterns and programs that are running become a determinant of health.
  • We are often unaware of the programs, but, with the right help, can become aware of them and change them.

EFT is the perfect tool to use and does life-transforming work. We can reprogram our minds, which in turn affects our happiness, confidence, health, work and relationships with ourselves and others.

For much more detailed understanding of unconscious programming, how it comes about and how it persists, you may also like to listen to Dr Rangan Chatterjee’s podcast, Feel Better, Live More, Episode 308, How to Unlock the Power of Your Subconscious Mind, where Dr Chatterjee interviews Dr Bruce Lipton about how this subconscious programming comes about.

Dr Lipton mentions Energy Psychology in the interview, of which EFT is the best known and most used form.

How to get the transformation with EFT

Having digested the above information from Drs Lipton and Chatterjee about the development of subconscious limitations, you will likely have realised that you need to:

  • get clarity about what your program(s) are (not always obvious at all to you, although often painfully obvious to those close to you)
  • find where the program(s) originated
  • deal with the emotions that are linked with the roots of the program(s) and the specific past events that led your young self toward certain, now-flawed decisions, conclusions or vows
  • neutralise all emotional charges that may be holding these programs in place

This is truly transformational work, for which several EFT tapping techniques are ideally suited. It is also complex work that you would struggle to do alone without completion of a full practitioner training course. You are best advised to book a course of sessions with an experienced advanced EFT practitioner and be ready for a deep dive. You will find you need the insight, support and space-holding by a practitioner for this type of work. Find a practitioner with whom you can truly feel that you can work in partnership.

For a life-changing piece of work, you should expect to use 6-10 sessions, or possibly more. This can be a big piece of work and even develop further over the course of a year or more, but it will be so worthwhile in terms of the transformation you will experience. As an example of the transformation that is possible, listen to the podcast where Dr Bruce Lipton describes how his life once was and how it has become after doing this type of self development work.
